Jen Valender

CELEBRATION IN AN AGE OF ISOLATION takes a moment to reflect on the social sacrifices experienced by the community during this period of isolation. How are individuals marking life milestones whilst in solitude? Are we adapting to social distancing and adjusting to loneliness?

JEN VALENDER is a Melbourne-based contemporary artist working within the disciplines of sculpture, performance and projection art. With a background in sociology, her work plays with absurdism and humour to comment on social and environmental concerns. Jen was a recipient of the 2019 Next Wave New Student Precinct Art Prize and the Ian Potter Museum of Art’s Miegunyah Project Award.

Jen is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne and a resident artist at Centre for Projection Art.
