Jen Valender
Jen Valender is a Melbourne-based contemporary artist working within the disciplines of sculpture, performance and projection art. With a background in sociology, her work plays with absurdism and humour to comment on social and environmental concerns.
A recipient of the 2019 Next Wave New Student Precinct Art Prize and the Ian Potter Museum of Art’s Miegunyah Project Award, Jen is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne.
Jen participated in the 2020 Summer Artist-In-Residence program and was mentored by Yandell Walton. As part of the residency, Jen exhibited work in LIGHT WINDOWS, a project presented in collaboration with New York's HoloCentre, and is working towards her presenting new work for Gertrude Street Projection Festival.
